4- Speed Beef Stew & CSA perk

4 Speed Beef Stew pg 75 of Michael Smith's Fast Flavours

The 4-Speed beef stew had 4 different ways/times to cook it.  There was a 30 minutes, 60 minute, 45 minute and the all day.  We choose the all day method.  There is nothing like getting supper on in the slow cooker when it is still cool and dark in the morning, and know you can work right up until dark again and supper is ready.

Mid January Update

Well January is more than half over, and we have been busy.  The tunnels and greenhouses are a lot of work.  More than meets the eye for sure.

I (Carey) am done the off farm job at the end of this week.  I am looking forward to it.  It has been great working with the Federation of Municipalities but will be removing that hat, and I think for good this time.  I have met lots of great people during my time here, and learned so much about Municipal government.  (I came back to help them out part ...

Our holidays

Over the holidays, which now seem so long ago we were busier than expected.  Jeff does some relief milking for other farmers in the off-season (milking for a dairy farmer to give them a night or morning off).  He was milking for two full weeks, starting on December 21, and into the New Year.   It kept us busy, as we still have some work at the farm to do, and I (Carey) also had to work off farm at the office job (which ends Jan 25th) for part of it.

Bacon Candy

We have been a little slow getting some new posts up.  Things have been busy.  We will try and get some extra up in the next couple weeks.  

We love our bacon!  We have Island Taylor meats do the smoking of our bacon and ham, so you take the delicious free-range heritage pork and add some amazing smoking and you just get amazing meat.  So we thought we would try this interesting sounding recipe with the bacon.
