End of May update

It has been a very busy couple weeks here at the farm.

Becky was with us for 3 weeks.  She was great help.  It will be awful quiet without her here to help and chat with. 

We seem to be ahead of where we were last year at this time.  The greenhouses are in transition, which means there may be a few less veggie boxes each week until things in the field are ready to harvest.  There are tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers planted in the greenhouses.  As we continue to plant more things in the gr...

As a child I had always wanted to travel to P.E.I. People would tell me that the island is a completely different world compared to where I live, in Ontario. Although it’s only a few provinces away, the pictures and all the hype seemed to intrigue me. May 7th

What a great day.  I woke up this morning and it was raining.  One job crossed off the list right away.  It was planned that I was running East of Charlottetown to grab some extra row cover from a friend.  There were some other errands that also needed done so the rainy morning just made sense.

We got on the road (Becky came for the ride).  We ended up getting more row cover than we thought, not complaining just made for a good morning.  On the way back from that I got a text message sayin...

Where did April go?

Its May already.  Things seem like they are in full swing. 

We have been doing veggie boxes in Cornwall weekly the last several weeks.  We hope to do them again next week.  We did a record number of boxes out of the greenhouse last week. We have been setting up market style, and having a choice of produce each week.  It seems to be going over well.  Last week we also had samples for people to try. 


 

We have been doing some transplanting out into the field, and some direct seeding as well. ...
